Steph Curry injures left knee in return to Warriors lineup

Steph Curry’s mutinous knees and ankles lower body struck again in his first game back since he sprained his right ankle against the San Antonio Spurs two weeks ago. Near the end of the third quarter, Curry was rolling against the Atlanta Hawks with 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting. However, the air was sucked out of Oracle Arena when Javale McGee fell into Curry’s left leg who immediately grimaced and began hopping up and down in pain.

While speculation immediately focused on the status of his left ankle, it soon became clear that his knee was the source of Curry’s physical pain.

The play was eerily reminiscent of the Grade 2 MCL sprain Kevin Durant suffered a year ago when Zaza Pachulia fell into his leg in late February. However, Warriors fans can breathe easy knowing that they’re still firmly locked into the Western Conference’s second seed. Curry’s injury doesn’t appear dire, but reports are that he may have suffered an MCL injury. It’s just the latest blow to a team that has seen its All-Star nucleus decimated by injury this month.
