Steelers HC Mike Tomlin calls review at end of regulation: ‘An embarrassment’

There was a bizarre series of events at the end of regulation in the Pittsburgh Steelers overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. With just seconds left, Seattle quarterback Geno Smith made a short completion to wide receiver DK Metcalf. After the play, the seahawks rushed to the line of scrimmage to clock the ball to attempt a field goal to send the game into overtime.

However, as the Seahawks clocked it and time expired, the officials blew the play dead to review if Metcalf has made a catch or not. The call by the officials made no sense as it was an obvious catch and run. It was meaningless at the moment and seemed to be an obvious attempt to slow things down for Seattle at the end of the game.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had nothing good to say about the decision to review the play and called it an embarrassment for it to even happen.
