Steelers G Kevin Dotson doesn’t think OT Broderick Jones plays in 2023

There seems to be a growing sentiment that Pittsburgh Steelers rookie offensive tackle Broderick Jones isn’t going to be the Week One starter at left tackle. The latest to jump on board and share their opinion is Steelers guard Kevin Dotson.

“I think this year, most likely, he won’t play,” Dotson said. “I’m thinking they’re just thinking about the future. That’s all I can think of. If he plays this year, I don’t know. He’s going to be at tackle, most likely left, because I don’t think he’s ever played right.”

It’s a bit unusual for a teammate to speak so candidly about a rookie like this but given Dotson’s tenuous spot on the depth chart, I suppose he feels like he can speak freely. If Jones doesn’t play in 2023 he might be sharing space on the bench with Dotson. Pittsburgh signed Isaac Seumalo to replace Dotson in the starting lineup and Dotson suddenly finds himself in a position battle just to stay on the roster.
