State wrestling: Good start for area wrestlers

Mar. 1---- The arduous journey to a state championship began for 40 West Central Tribune area wrestlers Friday.

All aim to be a part of the festivities Saturday night at the annual state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center.

Of the 40, 24 won their first-round matches.

Four

are among the first-round winners: Cavin Carlson at 133 pounds, Conlan Carlson at 139, Sully Anez at 145 and Steven Cruze at 172. All are wrestling in the Class AAA portion of the tournament.

Advancing in Class AA was

172-pounder Brody Duke, a senior with a 33-8 record.

's Jevon Williams is the top seed in the 160-pound division of Class A. The senior has a 31-0 record.
