Stars of the Day: Taunton boys basketball doubles down on Milford

MILFORD — The Taunton boys basketball team is red hot and shows no signs of cooling off anytime soon.

The Tigers cruised to an 83-41 Hockomock League road win over Milford, outscoring the Scarlet Hawks by 42 points to stay undefeated in league play and improve to 10-1 overall.

Taunton's three star seniors all came in clutch, with Trent Santos leading the way with 18 points, 16 of which came during the second half, while Faisal Mass scored 17 and Tristan Herry had 15. Junior Cyrus Morrissette added 13 for the Tigers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Taunton 53, Milford 36

The Tigers defeated the Scarlet Hawks in Hockomock action for their second straight win to improve to 3-9 overall.

Junior Kameron St. Pierre led the way for Taunton with 23 points while senior Olivia Gannon had 12.

Bridgewater-Raynham 62, Dartmouth 39

The Trojans earned a big Southeastern Conference win over the Indians on the road to improve to 8-3 overall.

Sophomore Natalia Hall-Rosa led the way for B-R with 25 points, six steals and four rebounds while fellow sophomore Reese Bartlett had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists and senior Fiona Kelly had 11 points and seven rebounds.

The victory also marked coach Cheryl Seavey's 100th win at the helm of the Trojans, and the 112th career win for the former B-R basketball standout when including her time at Middleboro.

HOCKEY

Taunton 4, Apponequet 1

The Tigers beat the Lakers on the road in non-league action at the Driscoll Arena to improve to 3-7-1 overall.

Senior forward Loran Corcoran led the way for Taunton with a hat trick while sophomore forward Conner Goranson added the other goal. Junior forward Connor McGrath and sophomore defenseman Jonathan McGrath each had a pair of assists, while senior forward Nathan Fernandes, freshman forward Tre Nadeau, junior defenseman Colton Scheralis and senior forward Michael Lucier all record an assist apiece. Freshman goalie Cam Tomaszycki made 29 saves in net for the Tigers.

BOYS SWIMMING

Mansfield 43, Taunton 39

The Tigers fell to the Hornets in Hockomock action in their final home dual meet of the regular season and are now 1-4 on the season.

Senior Timothy Luc finished first in both the 50 meter freestyle and 100 meter freestyle, recording Division I States qualifying times in both. Senior Brady Callahan placed first in the 200 meter freestyle and second in the 100 meter backstroke, earning a South Sectionals qualifying time for the latter, while freshman David Luc won the 100 meter backstroke and finished second in the 50 meter freestyle with South Sectionals qualifying times in both and junior Keenan Daley finished second in the 100 meter freestyle.

The relay team of Callahan, both Lucs and Daley finished first in the the 200 meter medley while the relay team of Callahan, senior Hector Aponte and both Lucs won the 400 meter freestyle.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Mansfield 51, Taunton 39

The Tigers fell to the Hornets in Hockomock action in their final home dual meet of the regular season and are now 1-4 overall.

Junior Tiffany Ye finished first in both the 200 and 500 meter freestyles, while sophomore Mila Dafov finished first in both the 200 meter individual medley and 100 meter freestyle. Sophomore Emma Bradley finished second in the 50 meter freestyle while eighth grader Rachel Maynard came in second in the 200 meter freestyle.

The relay team of Ye, senior Kayla Parret, Dafov and eighth grader Megan Viveiros won the 400 meter freestyle, while the relay team of senior Corinne Hathaway, eighth grader Morgan McAloon, Maynard and Bradley and the relay team of Dafov, Viveiros, Parret and Ye finished second in the 200 meter medley and 200 meter freestyle respectively.
