Much of LSU’s success on offense this fall could come down to the health of one player: standout receiver Kayshon Boutte.
Boutte came on to the scene in 2020 with a standout freshman season, and he was on pace for a huge campaign in 2021 before a broken ankle sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Playing just half the season, he finished with 38 catches for 509 yards and nine touchdowns.
He has since had two surgeries, and his recovery has been one of the major question marks for the Tigers so far this offseason. LSU fans got some good news on Friday night, though.
According to The Athletic’s Brody Miller, Boutte was seen making an appearance at the 7-on-7 camp on campus. More noteworthy, however, is the fact that he was seen walking around without a walking boot on. Miller also noted that he looked slimmer and more in shape than he has at previous points during his rehabilitation.
Boutte should be one of the best receivers in the country in 2022 if he’s healthy. He’s seen by many as a likely first-round pick, and he certainly has First Team All-SEC potential this fall. If he can capitalize on that potential, it will make the job all that much easier for whoever is able to emerge from this quarterback battle.
