She was one of the lesser-known participants in the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing – but when Stacey Dooley was crowned winner, her fame soared.

And not least because of her blossoming romance with three-times-married pro dance partner Kevin Clifton, which followed shortly after she split with her long-term personal trainer boyfriend Sam Tucknott.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph’s Stella magazine, the presenter, 33, admitted that she hadn’t anticipated how the BBC show would cause her private relationships to hit the headlines.

Dooley said: “I underestimated how much interest there would be in my personal life, which required adjustment.”

The investigate journalist – who has made a name for herself reporting in hard-hitting documentaries since 2008’s Blood, Sweat & T-Shirts – now lives with 38-year-old Clifton in London.

In the same interview, she revealed the couple “haven’t done any exercise, not even dancing” during lockdown.

Dooley also opened up about her beauty routine, citing her favourite products as Avene cleanser and Augustinus Bader cleansing gel.

She also said that she enhances her trademark natural red hair at home with Clairol hair dye in ‘8WR Golden Auburn’.

In a post on Instagram this weekend, Dooley unveiled a striking new fringe with her 930,000 followers.

The star shared a short video of her modelling fresh wispy, parted bangs.

Captioning the clip, Dooley wrote: “LOVIN MY BANGS... (I HAD MY HAIR CUT AGES AGO... NOT IN LOCKDOWN BEFORE EVERYONE GETS READY TO SHARPEN THE KNIVES).”

She tagged hairstylist Eamonn Hughes, who she called a “genius w/them scissors”, and who has also styled Paloma Faith and Katherine Jenkins’ locks.

The new look went down well with her fans who left more than 233,000 ‘likes’.

Famous friend Katie Piper commented: “Really suits you. I want to copy you but scared I will look a like a high court judge.”

One person shared: “Loving the new cut.”

Another added: “Yes to the bangs sis.”
