St. Xavier vs. Trinity football: From tickets to tailgating, what to know ahead of the game

The St. Xavier and Trinity high school football teams will meet for the 91st time Friday in the latest clash between two of Louisville's perennial Class 6A contenders. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at L&N Stadium.

Here’s what to know about the game:

Matchup

St. X (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season Friday, falling to Cincinnati Elder 31-21 after committing three turnovers in the second half. The Tigers are ranked No. 1 in Class 6A in this week’s Kentucky High School Football Media Poll.

Trinity (2-3) will look to bounce back from a 37-20 loss Friday at Male. The Shamrocks are ranked No. 5 in Class 6A in this week’s poll.

Trinity holds a 48-40-2 lead in the series, which began in 1956.

St. X has won the past two meetings, including a 13-8 victory last year in front of an announced crowd of 16,884.

The all-time attendance record for the series came in 2008, when 38,872 fans showed up for the Tigers’ 30-6 victory.

Tickets are $10 (general admission), $15 (reserved lower bowl) and $20 (Angels Envy Club or PNC Club).

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Parking

Parking passes for the Bronze and Platinum lots will be available this week at both schools for $20. Parking in the Purple lot is $15 cash and is paid at the lot.

Tailgating

The party before the game is just as popular as the game itself.

Parking lots will open at 3 p.m. Friday so tailgating can begin.

Radio/livestream

Both schools will have radio broadcasts – WXVW 96.1 FM/1450 AM for the St. X broadcast and WGTK 970 AM for the Trinity broadcast. There will not be a video livestream of the game.
