St. John’s junior Julian Champagnie invited to 2022 NBA draft combine

St. John’s junior Julian Champagnie has been reportedly invited to compete in the 2022 NBA draft combine, according to Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

The draft combine will run May 16-22 and feature executives and scouts from all 30 teams in Chicago, Illinois. Teams each year submit a list of the players they would like to see invited, typically those with the highest odds of getting drafted.

69 players were invited to the draft combine last year.

Champagnie, who was named to the All-Big East first team, averaged 19.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, two assists, two steals and 1.1 blocked shots in 31 games. He finished second in scoring in the conference and 35th in the country, overall.

He has hired an agent and will forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility.

Champagnie is most commonly projected to be a second-round pick this year. He will have the opportunity to improve his draft stock by participating in private workouts with teams. He reportedly has two upcoming with the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets, respectively.

The NBA draft will take place on June 23.
