B-R 6th get wins

VINCENNES — B-R's sixth grade A and B teams posted wins over Vincennes Clark.

The Viking A-team posted a 36-34 victory, with Noah Cummings getting 17, Hunter Knepp with seven, Ryker Miller and Miles Yoder with six each.

The B-squad won 39-19, with Bentley Yoder with 13, Liam Ramsey with 12, Cannon Traylor with six, Dom Knepp with four, while Bronson Higgins and Brook Swartzentruber also scored. Both teams moved to 8-1.

WJHS splits with Jasper

JASPER — Washington Junior High Lady Hatchets traveled to Jasper for two games on Tuesday evening.

The Washington seventh grade Lady Hatchets opened the night with their best game so far of the season with a total team win on the road 44-9 and gave Coach Huebner a win for his birthday.

Washington eighth grade Lady Hatchets played much better defense from last year, but their offense would struggle against a really deep Jasper eighth grade team. Washington would fall short in the night cap game, 13-26.

The eighth grade plays Thursday night at home against South Knox. Game time for 8th grade is 6 p.m.

7th grade Lady Hatchets will play in the night cap game following the 8th grade game vs a team to be determined.

Lady Vikes tangle with WJHS, WRV

MONTGOMERY — The Barr Reeve Junior High girls' basketball teams got their second half of their season going again Saturday against White River Valley.

The seventh grade played two quarters and lost 7-9. Brie Cornelius scored four and Miley Fisher hit a 3-pointer for her three.

The B-R eighth grade (7-4) started out slow but battled back and had a chance to win it at the buzzer but couldn't get it to drop. They lost 36-37. Shelby Dobson scored 15 points, Shay Knepp had 10 pts, JJ Knepp had nine and Molly Anderson had two.

The girls were back in action at home against Washington on Monday.

The B-R seventh grade played two quarters and Washington's pressure defense was the difference as the visiting Hatchets won, 23-9. Avery Wittmer led the way with five and JJ Knepp scored four. The B-R seventh grade is now 6-5 for the year.

The eight-grade game was a thriller. Washington got an early lead with pressure defense and led at halftime by nine. Barr Reeve used a full-court pressure and some better shooting in second half to turn the table and the game was tied at 31 to send the game to overtime. Barr Reeve would out score the Hatchets 6-4 to take the 37-35 victory.

B-R's Shay Knepp had her best game of the year with 16 points. Shelby Dobson score a very hard 11. JJ Knepp scored four but had 15 rebounds. Avery Wittmer also scored all of her four points in the overtime. Ava Graber had a big fourth quarter basket for her two points. The eighth grade goes to 8-4.

B-R is back in action on Thursday night at home against Forest Park. Both Washington teams travel to Jasper Tuesday night to face Jasper on the road.

NDJH takes 2

ELNORA — The junior high Lady Cougars both improved to 11-2 on the year with wins over Northeast Dubois. The seventh grade got out to a fast 18-7 lead, but Dubois made a nice comeback to cut it to one. ND had a good closing quarter and held on for the 24-20 victory. They were led in scoring by Bristol Lengacher and Leah Knepp with seven points each. Aubrey Ferguson was close behind with six points. Natalie Wagler and Ella Knepp rounded out the scoring with two points each.

The ND eighth grade had a 18-12 lead at half, but then had a fantastic third quarter in which they outscored NE Dubois 20-4 to go on to win 44-25. They had a very balanced attack with Kenley Wagler leading the Lady Cougars with 10 points. Maleah Lengacher and Lola Graber were next with nine and eight points respectively. Shaylee Graber was next with seven points while Peyton Cates added four points. Natalie Wagler, Aubrey Ferguson and Leah Knepp rounded out the Lady Cougars with two points each.

B-R C-team falls

LOOGOOTEE — The Vikings' C-team fell on the road, 31-20 to Loogootee. Caleb Moffett led the way with five points for B-R.

WJHS 7th downs PC

The Washington Hatchets seventh grade boys improved to 10-4 Monday night with a win over Pike Central, 36-18.

Wrestling change

The WHS wrestling match slated for Monday with Bosse at Lena Dunn, has now been moved to Thursday at Evansville Bosse.
