Sports Uncovered: How Bill Belichick remembers Sean Taylor's most famous hit

The 2007 Pro Bowl (for the 2006 NFL season) featured two very rare sights.

First, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was the AFC's head coach. (He's usually busy in early February). You probably remember the second: Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor absolutely leveled Buffalo Bills punter Brian Moorman on an attempted fake punt.

The latest episode of NBC Sports' "Sports Uncovered" podcast dives deep into the life and death of Taylor, who was tragically killed in November 2007 during a burglarly attempt.

Moorman actually joined the podcast to discuss Taylor's infamous hit and recall what he was thinking as the Washington safety barreled toward him.

"Had he been about two inches over and hit me in the chin, I'd probably still be laying there," Moorman said.

But it was Belichick who put Moorman in that position by calling for a fake punt. The Patriots head coach reflected on that play two years later -- and suggested Taylor was a little too aggressive given the circumstances.

"I mean, Brian could have taken less of a hit on that," Belichick told reporters in Dec. 4, 2009, via Sports Illustrated. " ... Brian was running. At least he had a little chance to (see it coming), but Sean Taylor hit him. That was a massive hit. It was right in front of our bench. I thought it was ... Oh, my God."

If anyone would defend their punter, it's Belichick, whose affinity for special teams is well-documented.

But the Patriots head coach also had plenty of respect for Taylor, as ex-Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork detailed last year.
