Sports shorts: Warriors shut out Union Mine to stay undefeated

Jan. 24—The Galt High boys soccer team stayed undefeated with Tuesday's 4-0 victory over Union Mine, with goals from Miguel Garcia, Vicente Marquez, Ben Stratton and Isai Meza, and assists from Garcia, Stratton and Meza.

The JV game went to Galt, 15-0 with Giovanni De Leon's six goals leading the way. Galt (14-0-4, 6-0-1 in the SVC) will play at El Dorado today.

Varsity boys: Liberty Ranch 3, Rosemont 0

Isaac Flores scored twice as the Hawks also stayed undefeated in the SVC at 4-0-2, and 5-3-4 overall. Christian Ruiz also scored, and Raj Pillay recorded the clean sheet in goal.

The JV game went to Rosemont, 1-0. Liberty Ranch was scheduled to play at El Dorado on Wednesday.

Varsity girls: Galt 1, Union Mine 0

Bayley Miller scored the lone goal of Tuesday's game, with Sheiny Lemus on the assist. Kylee Chapman tallied five saves for the clean sheet.

Galt (10-4-3, 4-1-2 SVC) hosts El Dorado today. The JV game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Varsity girls: Liberty Ranch 1, Rosemont 1

The Hawks and the Wolverines played to a draw on Tuesday for Liberty Ranch's first blemish in SVC play. Maryn Rogers scored the goal for Liberty Ranch, while Zia Ruppert and Kennie Thomas split time in goal, with four saves from Ruppert and three from Thomas.

Liberty Ranch (9-5-2, 6-0-1) plays at Bradshaw Christian today. The JV game went to Liberty Ranch, 2-0.

JV girls: Lodi 2, Tokay 2

The Flames and the Tigers played to a draw on Tuesday, leaving Tokay 0-4-3 in TCAL play and Lodi 2-2-3.

Bailey Nelson and Elle Schallberger scored for Lodi, with assists from Rebecca Starr and Karli Barron.

BASKETBALL

Varsity girls: Galt 41, Bradshaw Christian 18

The Warriors improved to 3-19 overall and 2-4 in the SVC with Tuesday's victory, with 20 points from Akayla-Joy Gunter leading the way.

Emily Pena added eight points, Maya Hernandez had five, Vanessa Felix Corrales had four, and Alaya Gunter and Valerie Lopez had two points each.

Galt will play at El Dorado on Friday.

Varsity girls: Liberty Ranch 58, Union Mine 33

The Hawks maintained second place in the SVC with Tuesday's win, improving to 5-1 in league play and 19-5 overall. Liberty Ranch will play at Bradshaw Christian on Friday.

Varsity boys: Bradshaw Christian 95, Galt 44

The Warriors stayed winless in the SVC with Tuesday's loss, falling to 3-17 overall and 0-6 in league play. Galt will host El Dorado on Friday.

Varsity boys: Union Mine 82, Liberty Ranch 57

The Hawks dropped to 1-5 in league play, and 8-16 overall, with Tuesday's loss. Liberty Ranch will host Bradshaw Christian on Friday. The JV game went to Union Mine, 54-39.

Varsity boys: Delta Charter 61, Lodi Academy 46

The Titans dropped below .500 with Tuesday's loss, for a 6-7 overall record and 4-7 in the MVL.

Winston Dos Reis led Lodi Academy with 13 points and added seven assists and five rebounds, Ty Zinke had a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards, Kaleb Nevis had nine points and nine rebounds, Cole Berreth had four points, Andrew Kanas had three points and five rebounds, Landen Lippert and Jonah Pandjaitan had two points each, and Samuel Hernandez had one point.

Lodi Academy will play at Victory Christian today.
