Sports shorts: Track athletes on the run in Sacramento

Mar. 4—Athletes from the Tokay High track and field team competed at the Timberwolf Invitational on Saturday at Sierra High in Manteca, with both the boys and girls varsity squads placing eighth.

On the girls side, Kayleen Tuavao won the discus at 96 feet, 6 inches and the triple jump at 34-8.75, and placed ninth in the 200 at 29.56. Brook Frisk placed second in the high jump at 4-10.

On the boys side, Jacob Ray won the high jump at 5-10, Joshua Young placed second in the pole vault at 12-6, third in the 1,600 at 4:44.46 and third in the high jump at 5-9, Brandon Le placed fourth in the 400 at 54.84 and 10th in the 200 at 24.34, John Carlo Agbayani placed fifth in the 110 hurdles at 16.96, Logan Sweetman was sixth in the pole vault at 9-6, and the 4-by-100 relay team placed eighth at 45.79.

In the JV competition, Tokay placed third in the girls standings and eighth in the boys standings.

For the JV girls, Kaci Whatley won the high jump at 4-2 and was second in the pole vault at 6-6, Kaiyana Landry won the triple jump at 31-1.5 and was second in the long jump at 14-5.5, Brianna Garcia was second in the 300 hurdles at 58.75 and fourth in the 100 hurdles at 20.82, Neveah Granato was fourth in the 100 at 14.48 and sixth in the 200 at 30.59, Adison King was eight in the 200 at 30.71 and eighth in the long jump at 12-1, Tatum Stewart was eighth in the 400 at 1:13.18 and eighth in the 100 hurdles at 22.26, Carolyn Petrossian was second in the high jump at 4-2, Madison Eastwood was eighth in the 1,600 at 6:42.37, and the 4-by-100 relay team was fourth at 56.33.

For the JV boys, Daniel Barajas won the 1,600 at 4:53.33 and the 3,200 at 10:42.00, Jackson Batch won the 300 hurdles at 45.40, placed sixth in the 110 hurdles at 19.40 and was ninth in the 100 at 12:50, Alijah Crone was sixth in the 400 at 1:00.40 and seventh in the 300 hurdles at 50.09, Richard Medina was fourth in the 1,600 at 5:11.77, and the 4-by-100 relay team placed fifth at 48.70.

Sac State Classic

Lodi High varsity track athletes competed at Sacramento State on Saturday, with top-ten finishes from Kiah Aitken (fourth in the 800 at 2:23.45) and Zoe Aitken (sixth in the 1,600 at 5:21.86).

Port City Invitational

Several frosh-soph athletes competed at the Port City Invitational on Saturday at Bear Creek High, with Cadence Krause winning the 200 hurdles at 59.37, Lily Sweetman fourth in the same event at 1:15.86, and Coura Yourth seventh in the 200 at 20.89.

VOLLEYBALL

Varsity boys: McNair 3, Tokay 0

The Tigers dropped to 2-6 with Friday's 25-17, 25-15, 25-14 loss. Tokay will play at Bear Creek on March 11.
