Sports shorts: Hawks, Warriors draw in showdown atop SVC

Jan. 12—The Galt and Tokay boys soccer teams battled to a 2-2 draw on Thursday, the rivals' first meeting this year,

The tie kept the two teams tied atop the Sierra Valley Conference standings at 2-0-1, and left Galt still undefeated with 10 wins and 4 ties. Liberty Ranch is 3-3-3 overall.

For Galt, Miguel Garcia and Isai Meza each scored, with assists from Garcia and Christian Gomez.

For Liberty Ranch, Leyton Munoz and Alonso Villasenor scored, while Raj Pillay tallied 5 saves between the pipes.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, with Galt hosting Bradshaw Christian and Liberty Ranch playing at Union Mine.

Varsity girls: Lodi 2, Tracy 1

Samantha Stone and Isabella DaValle scored in the Flames' victory on Thursday, with assists from Jocelyn Maldonado and Alondra Viramontes.

Lodi (13-3-1, 2-2 TCAL) will host West on Tuesday.

Varsity girls: St. Mary's 4, Tokay 2

The Tigers couldn't bounce back from a 2-0 halftime deficit in Thursday's loss, dropping to 5-7-4 overall and 0-4 in the TCAL.

The JV game ended in a 1-0 St. Mary's win. Tokay will play at Lincoln on Tuesday.

JV boys: Galt 2, Liberty Ranch 0

Anthony Zambrano and Angel Muñoz scored for the Warriors in Thursday's victory, with assists from Giovanni De Leon and Kitto Gonzalez. Galt goalkeeper Angel Cornejo had 3 saves.

JV girls: Lodi 1, Tracy 1

Elle Schallberger scored for the Flames on a Karli Barron assists on Thursday. The JV Flames are 5-4-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the TCAL.

BASKETBALL

Varsity girls: Lodi 52, Tracy 38

The Flames improved to 2-1 with Thursday's victory and 11-8 overall. Lodi will play a non-league game at Davis on Tuesday.

Varsity boys: St. Mary's 84, Tokay 55

The Tigers stayed winless in the TCAL with Thursday's loss, dropping to 0-5 in league play and 7-14 overall. Tokay will host Lodi on Jan. 19.

The JV game ended in a 72-35 Rams win.

Varsity boys: Stockton Christian 71, Lodi Academy 32

The Titans dropped below .500 with Thursday's loss, to 4-5 overall and 3-5 in MVL play.

Ty Zinke led Lodi Academy with 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, Winston Dos Reis had 7 points and 4 assists, Andrew Kanas had 6 points and 5 rebounds, Kaleb Nevis had 3 points and 6 rebounds, and Samuel Hernandez and Cole Berreth had 3 points each.

Varsity girls: Stockton Christian 47, Lodi Academy 44

The Titans suffered a close loss on Thursday, dropping to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in MVL play.

JV girls: Lodi 35, Tracy 33

The JV Flames won a close on on Thursday, with 13 points from Kylie Blum, 12 from Paige Buckley and 2 from D.J. Mancuso. Lodi is 2-1 in TCAL play.
