Sports shorts: Flames win to improve TCAL record

Jan. 23—The Lodi High girls basketball team improved to 4-1 in the TCAL with Monday's 46-19 victory over West, with 17 points from Noah Mayer, 13 from Kiah Aitken, five from Malia Uhrich, four from Zoe Aitken, two each from Emmy Spaletta, Janie Schallberger and Jasmine Adkins, and one from Sienna Aitken.

The Flames play at Lincoln on Thursday.

Varsity boys: Lodi 48, West 44

Giuseppe Guidi led the Flames with 20 points in Monday's victory, helping Lodi improve to 4-3 in TCAL play and 15-8 overall.

Nathan Morse added seven points, Noah Rivera had six, Tyler Carson and Drew Tetz had five each, Mario Rizzi had three, and Alex Sauseda had two.

Lodi plays at league-leading Modesto Christian (16-3, 7-0) today.

Varsity girls: Lodi 46, Tokay 20

On Friday, the Flames took down rival Tokay at Tokay's gym, with 12 points each from Kiah Aitken and Mayer, nine points from Uhrich, eight from Zoe Aitken, two each from Schallberger and Adkins, and one from Sienna Aitken.

For Tokay, Thalia Chavez and Karina Hernandez each scored nine to lead the Tigers, along with two from Maya Dhaliwal.

Tokay was scheduled to play at Tracy on Tuesday.

Varsity girls: Elliot Christian 47, Millennium Charter 44

The Eagles slipped past the Falcons on Monday, staying atop the CCAA at 10-3, and 3-1 in league play.

Bella Perry, No. 10 in the Sac-Joaquin Section in points per game at 19.2, led Elliot with 24 points and added nine rebounds and five assists. Nena Heiser had seven points and eight boards, Jessica Williams had seven points and five rebounds, Knatiya Middleton had four points and seven rebounds, Hannah Duncan had three points, and Scarlett Gaither had two points and nine rebounds.

Elliot will host Venture Academy on Friday.

Varsity boys: Modesto Christian 88, Tokay 51

The Tigers dropped to 0-7 with Monday's loss, and will host Tracy today.

Varsity boys: Lodi Academy 49, Vanguard Prep 43

The Titans held off Vanguard for a win on Monday to get back to .500 overall at 6-6, and 4-6 in the MVL.

Winston Dos Reis led Lodi Academt with 18 points, adding six assists and five rebounds, while Andrew Kanas went for a double-double at 15 points, 10 boards. Kaleb Nevis added five points, Cole Berreth had four points and seven rebounds, Ty Zinke had three points and 13 rebounds, Jonah Pandjaitan had three points, and Landen Lippert had one point.

The Titans were scheduled to play at Delta Charter on Tuesday.

Varsity girls: Lodi Academy 56, Vanguard Prep 14

The Titans improved to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in MVL play with Monday's win, and will host Tioga on Jan. 30.

JV girls: Lodi 33, West 25

Paige Buckley led the JV Flames in Monday's victory, along with 10 from Kylie Blum, four from Khalayah Wright and three from Hope Carson.

JV boys: Lodi 59, West 44

Jackson Butler led the JV Flames with 19 points in Monday's victory, along with 13 from Xavier Davis and 11 from Noah Munoz.

With defensive play from Cooper Mettler and Max Tovar, Lodi improved to 15-8 this winter.
