Sports shorts: Eagles tie for 2nd in CCAA, Titans are co-champs in MVL

Feb. 9—Bella Perry tallied a double-double and Jessica Williams drained four 3-pointers in the Elliot Christin girls basketball team's 49-35 victory over Millennium on Thursday, which put the Eagles into a tie for second place in the CCAA.

Perry led Elliot with 26 points and added 12 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.Williams finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, Scarlett Gaither had six points and nine boards, Hannah Duncan had one point and 13 rebounds, and Knatiya Middleton had 11 rebounds.

With both Elliot Christian and Stone Ridge Christian finishing league play with a 5-3 record, the teams scheduled a tiebreaker game Friday in Merced. The CCAA sends two automatic qualifiers to the playoffs, so the winner advances automatically, but both teams are ranked in the top 10 in Division VI by, which should earn either an at-large playoff berth when brackets are released by the Sac-Joaquin Section today.

Varsity girls: Lodi Academy 38, Ben Holt Prep 37

The Titans knocked off the league-leading Bobcats on Thursday to force a tie atop the Mountain Valley League standings at 6-2. Lodi Academy finished the regular season with an 11-4 record.

With no tiebreaker in the MVL, Lodi Academy and Ben Holt are co-champions.

Varsity boys: Elliot Christian 51, Millennium 41

The Eagles broke open a 22-22 halftime tie to win on Thursday, breaking through for their first CCAA victory on the final night of league play.

Jeremy Nielsen led all scorers with 17 points for Elliot, while Jayden Gaither tallied a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Elliot Burton added 13 points and five steals, Seth Byrd had six points, and Kaden Kirby had one point and 13 rebounds.

Elliot finished the regular season with a 1-9 record in the CCAA, and 5-17 overall.

Varsity boys: Ben Holt Prep 72, Lodi Academy 25

The Titans finished the regular season with a loss on Thursday for a 7-10 overall record, and 5-9 in the MVL.

Andrew Kanas and Samuel Hernandez led Lodi Academy with eight points each, while Kanas added 12 rebounds. Jonah Pandjaitan, Cedric Johnson and Cole Berreth each ahd three points, while Berreth had nine rebounds, and Ty Zinke had seven boards.
