Florida football gets set to partake in The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party on Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs for the 101st meeting between the two historic rivals.
Ahead of Week 9’s Southeastern Conference East matchup, Sports Illustrated’s Richard Johnson and Pat Forde presented their respective takes on the UF-UGA matchup, which pits the No. 1 team in the country against a program sitting on the edge of the top 25.
Both expect a closer game than the oddsmakers are calling for. “The Gators may not be able to beat the Dawgs but I expect them to keep this game close enough,” Johnson notes. “The hook beckons, and I’ll take it.”
“The hook helps, but more than anything this feels like a one-score game that the Bulldogs win but don’t dominate,” Forde agreed. “Without Brock Bowers, Carson Beck could struggle. The Gators have won their last two games, it’s a rivalry, etc. Give me Florida.”
Gators’s annual rivalry game against the Bulldogs will take place at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, on Oct. 28, with a kickoff time of 3:30 p.m. EDT set. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports.
