Sports: Bearettes playoff run stopped by Lincoln

Feb. 17—The Bearettes against Dallas Lincoln had multiple talented athletes playing for the two teams. The Lincoln Tigers defeated Brownsboro 45-39. Head Coach Jeremy Durham sadly said," I hate this for our kids, because they gave a tremendous effort tonight. I'll sure miss the Twins , who were instrumental in our State Championship, and all sports for four years. I'll miss Michelle and her contributions the last two years. This talented group from Lincoln, have the potential to win the State Championship."

The first half had Brownsboro leading 11-10 after first quarter action. If the Bearettes hadn't missed nine free throws, the quarter lead could be large. Both teams played hard and physical defense. Lincoln has outstanding quickness, but our girls that won the State Championship two years ago matched up well."

A late surge in the final three minutes of the half put the Tigers up 22-18 at halftime.

The third quarter had both teams playing hard and only a one point difference in scoring , 33-28 Lincoln. The fourth quarter was the same as the third, with both teams playing winning ball. The Lady Tigers caused a few more turnovers, and that was the difference. The final score was 45-39 Dallas Lincoln.

Outstanding players for Brownsboro were Lewis with outstanding defense and intensity. McKenzie with overall hustle and passing. Also, the Garrett twins scoring keeping the Bearettes in the game.
