Sporting KC disposes of Toronto for 2nd win of 2024

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Sporting Kansas City notched their second win of the season with a 3-1 road win over Toronto FC.

After a scoreless first half, SKC blitzed Toronto with goals from midfielder Remi Walter, right back Jake Davis and forward Alenis Vargas.

Walter, from almost 10 yards outside the box when he received the ball with space, sent a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner in the 57th minute. It was Walter’s second goal of the season.

Davis followed that up with a shot from about 15 yards outside the box and scored with a right-footed shot that hit the bottom left corner in the 64th minute. It was his first career MLS goal.

Forward Willy Agada assisted Davis with that goal.

Vargas scored his first MLS goal as well in the 83rd minute as he battled to send the ball past his initial defender and sent a chip past another defender and goalkeeper Luka Gavran to seal the win. Davis notched an assist on that goal as well.

Toronto’s Jonathan Osorio scored an insurance goal in the 98th minute on stoppage time.

Sporting is 2-1-3 and come back home to host the Portland Timbers on Sunday at 12:30.
