Spartans and Warriors drop games
Oct. 24—The South Caldwell Spartans traveled to West Jefferson on Friday night, where they battled a tough Ashe County team before falling 13-6.
South Caldwell drops to 3-6 overall and 0-4 in Northwestern 3A/4A Conference play with the loss.
The first half was scoreless as the Spartans' defense kept the pressure on the Huskies, and it was 0-0 at halftime before Ashe County scored 13 points in the second half to win the game 13-6
Bryson Shook led the Spartans with two sacks in the game.
Zack Freeman rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown while averaging 8.9 yards per carry to lead the Spartans' offense.
The Spartans will return home on Friday, hosting the Hibriten Panthers in the Caldwell County Championship at 7:30 p.m.

West CaldwellWest Caldwell hosted Bandys on Thursday night in Lenoir, falling 54-7.
Bandys is now 6-3 overall and 3-3 in Catawba Valley 2A Conference action, while West Caldwell falls to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
The Warriors will next host the East Burke Cavaliers on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Cavaliers are 2-7 overall and 0-6 in Catawba Valley 2A Conference play.
