Southern controls Hampshire, Allegany beats Clear Spring by 30, Calvary falls to Shalom

Jan. 10—OAKLAND — Kelsie Ward scored eight points and all but one Southern player scored as the second-ranked Rams defeated visiting Hampshire 49-39 Monday evening.

Ward led the nine scorers by sinking four baskets, three after halftime. Gabby Berry and Gabby Stem each scored seven points, Emelee Parks and Jayden Weaver finished with six, Miranda Martin had five, and Abi Teets and Carly Wilt each scored four. Ashlyn Leader made two free throws in the first quarter to round out the scoring.

Hampshire's Izzy Blomquist was the only player in the game to score in double figures with 13 points, making four baskets including one 3 and hitting four of six free throws. Della Knight and Neveah Litchfield each scored six points. Four Trojans had three.

Southern (9-2) never trailed at the breaks, leading 15-12, 25-18 and 39-24 going into the final eight minutes.

Hampshire (4-6) hosts No. 3 Allegany on Wednesday at 7:30. The Rams entertain Mountain Ridge on Thursday at 7:30. Junior varsity tips at 6 p.m.

No. 3 Allegany 64, Clear Spring 34

CUMBERLAND — No. 3 Allegany dominated the second quarter, outscoring Clear Spring 27-5 on the way to a 30-point win on Monday.

Avery Miller and Shylah Taylor each recorded double-doubles for the Campers (6-3). Miller scored a game-high 23 points including 16 in the first half.

She also recorded 10 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks.

Taylor scored 19 points with 12 rebounds.

Tyiss Jessie added eight points and Myia Miller scored seven for Allegany.

Kara Hoover led the Blazers with eight points. Abby Curry scored seven and Madi Ebersole had six.

The Campers head to Hampshire on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Shalom 63, Calvary 37CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Shalom had three players score in double figures in a win over Calvary on Thursday.

M. Lehman led all scorers with 15 points for Shalom. C. Martin scored 12 and A. Adams added 10 points.

First names were not provided for Shalom.

Bethany Carrington led the Eagles (2-7) with 24 points, adding 13 in the second half.

Ava Strawderman added nine points with seven in the second half.

Calvary is at Cumberland Valley on Friday.
