SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Wednesday, Sept. 28

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Wednesday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

FIELD HOCKEY

Bishop Stang 1, Dartmouth 1

Grace Haskell scored the only goal for Dartmouth unassisted in the fourth quarter to tie the game. Samantha Souza and Kallie Rose played well. For Bishop Stang, Lily Duclos had a key drive up the field which led to her assist in a goal scored by Sydney Plouffe. Julia Caron had a great game in goal with seven saves and Kailey Araujo was strong with several saves in front of the net on defense. The Spartans (2-1-3, 0-1-1 CCL) visit Bishop Fenwick on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Dartmouth (3-1-4, 2-1-1 SEC) visits Bridgewater-Raynham on Friday.

New Bedford 8, Brockton 0

Hannah Blanchard had two goals while Gabby Tsaliagos, Tatum Reis and Tess Tarpey each had a goal and an assist. Lilly Brine scored her first varsity goal as well as Ashland Rysz, who scored two goals in her first year learning the sport. Brockton goalkeeper Molly Corvino had 41 saves. The Whalers (3-2-1, 2-1-1 SEC) host Barnstable on Monday.

Case 6, Wareham 1

Goalie Olivia Hogan had 19 saves in goal in the first three quarters. Goalie Makenzie Craig had four in the fourth quarter. Alex Bumpus scored the lone goal. The Vikings (3-5-1) host Fairhaven on Friday.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Dartmouth 15, Durfee 50

Elaijah Monteiro was first with a time of 17:34 while Sam Shrestha was second (18:00). Jared Mendonca (third; 18:12), Nicholas Silva (fourth; 19:01) and Jacob Anuszczyk (fifth; 19:02) rounded out the top five for Dartmouth (3-0).

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Dartmouth 23, Durfee 36

Serena Carnes led Dartmouth with a second-place time of 22:34 while Amya Moura was third (23:21). Makai Vincent (fifth; 24:20), Giada Cabral (sixth; 26:02) and Summer Daniels (seventh; 27:08) also competed for Dartmouth (3-0).

BOYS SOCCER

Old Rochester 2, Bourne 0

Ryan Blanchette scored two goals both assisted by Asher O'Brien-Nichols as the Bulldogs have gone unbeaten in their last six games. Luke DeVoe, Reilly Garber, George Psichopaidas and Ben Wyman played well for the Bulldogs, according to head coach Mike Devoll. Emile Joseph recorded his third shutout, making two saves. ORR (4-1-2, 3-1-1 SCC) hosts Falmouth on Friday.

Seekonk 2, Apponequet 1

Jamison Moriarty scored Apponequet’s lone goal while Josh Snyder had seven saves. The Lakers (0-6-1, 0-5-1 SCC) visit Bishop Stang on Friday.

GOLF

Old Rochester 231, Somerset Berkley 295

Philip le Gassick shot a 34 at the par 35 Bay Club to power the undefeated Bulldogs (5-0, 5-0 SCC). Markus Pierre and Braden Yeomans both carded 35s.

Apponequet 255, Case 327

Senior Marcus Kuriscak led the way for the Lakers (8-0) with a 3-over par 39 at Lakeville Country Club while teammates Luke Richards (41) and David Jope (42) also turned in strong efforts.

Bishop Stang 233, St. Mary’s 162

Redmond Podkowa shot a season-record 4-under par 32 for 44 points to lead Bishop Stang (8-1, 6-0 CCL) to the CCL victory. Matt Oliveira and Matt Costello followed with 1-under 35s for 38 points.

Dartmouth 7, Diman 2

In match play at Swansea Country Club, Will Gangi (41) Mikey Correia (39) took three match points while Ian Emery (39) Tom Moreira (44) won 1 1/2 match points and Jacob Grieve (44) Owen Nielson (48) took 2 1/2 points to lead Dartmouth (6-3, 3-2 SEC).

Old Colony 6.5, Southeastern 2.5

Brady Weglowski took one point at the No. 2 spot while Ty Dumas Tied and Michael Niemi won and they took the best ball point. Owen Levasseur and Will Harrop took all three points for the Cougars (8-0, 7-0 MAC).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Old Rochester 3, Apponequet 0

Ella Soutter had 16 service points, four aces, 16 kills and six digs to lead the undefeated Bulldogs to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-18 win. Aubrie Letourneau had 13 service points, four aces and 29 assists while Kam Rodrigues added eight kills and three digs and Emma Van Ness was 12 of 12 passing with three digs. For Apponequet, Lacie Nolin had five digs and four service points. The Lakers (3-5, 1-5 SCC) visit Durfee on Friday. The Bulldogs (8-0, 6-0 SCC) visit Dennis-Yarmouth on Friday.

Case 3, Dartmouth 2

Ava Crane made her comeback from being sick with a personal-record with 24 kills, 22 digs and five aces in a 25-14 28-30 19-25 25-11 13-15 loss for Dartmouth (6-2, 3-0 SEC). Lauren Augusto also beat a personal record with 50 assists and 16 digs. Gaby Velazquez went on a serving spree in game four, serving points 13-25 with nine of them being aces. She had 14 aces overall and 19 digs. Maddie Goldizen was 25 for 27 on serve receive. Haley Jenkins was 19 for 19 with eight kills. Erynn Jasparro had 12 kills. Adeline Ablett had 11 kills. Alaina Strozik had five kills. Olivia Arruda was 15 for 18 on serve receive.

Fairhaven 3, Seekonk 0

Kate Magalhaes was solid all around with six kills on 11 attempts with no errors, five aces, one assist and three digs in a 25-8, 25-17, 25-10 win. Abby Thomas had five kills, five aces, three digs and was 15 of 16 serving while Kiana Coppa added four kills, six aces and one block. Abbey Lopes chipped in 10 assists, three aces and was 12 of 13 serving. The Blue Devils (6-2, 5-2 SCC) visit Wareham on Monday.

GNB Voc-Tech 3, Dighton-Rehoboth 0

Moriah Baptista led the Bears (7-3, 5-2 SCC) with 12 kills while Elle McCormack had 27 assists and five service aces. Lilly Misay added 14 service points, three aces and 15 digs while Layna Ross had six kills and two blocks.

Old Colony 3, Upper Cape 1

The Cougars had strong serving with five aces apiece from Morgan Berry, Jessie Anderson and McKenna Benoit. Alyssa Couto and Allison Bumpus each had four aces and Ambra Arsenault had two. Berry also had three kills while Benoit and Kelly Quin each had one. The Cougars (2-6, 1-2 MAC) host Bristol-Aggie on Friday.

Brockton 3, New Bedford 1

The Whalers lost 25-27, 8-25, 25-20, 24-25. New Bedford (2-5, 1-2 SEC) hosts GNB Voc-Tech on Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Fairhaven 2, GNB Voc-Tech 0

Liza Pinette scored the first goal to set up Fairhaven’s offense early in the first half. Catia Fernandes scored the second goal from Tenley Dakin to bring the final score to 2-0. Sara Reis got her fourth shutout of the season. The Blue Devils (7-0-2, 3-0 SCC) host Apponequet on Monday at 3:45 p.m.

Apponequet 6, Seekonk 0

Morgan Pendegrace scored two goals to reach seven for the season while Jaida Belieau, Morgan Hayward, Niamh Gallagher and Emma Seaberg each scored once for Apponequet (6-1, 5-0 SCC). Hayward has six goals on the year. Hayward (two), Belieau (one) and Leah McGee (one) each had assists. Casey Radley had three saves for her fifth shutout of the season while Kara Balboni added two saves.

South Shore 2, Old Colony 1

Averi Oliveria scored the only goal for the Cougars with the assist going to Lilah White. Old Colony (1-4-2, 0-2-2 MAC) hosts Cape Cod Tech on Oct. 4.
