History was made in the Premier League on Tuesday. Shane Long, striker for Southampton, scored a goal just seven seconds into Southampton’s game against Watford.

Scoring seven seconds into a soccer game is impressive enough, but that he managed to do it off of Watford’s kickoff required the perfect blend of luck and talent.

Just beautiful. Unless you’re a Watford fan, of course.

Long’s goal, which officially came 7.69 seconds into the game, beat the old record by over two seconds. The previous record was set by Ledley King in 2000, when he scored for Tottenham just 9.82 seconds into their game against Bradford.

King’s record stood for 19 years, but there were a few close calls in the meantime.

Considering that Long completely shattered King’s previous record, it might be quite a long time before we see someone even get close to that seven-second mark again.
