South Prairie-Max wins first state tournament game over Shiloh Christian

Feb. 29—MINOT — South Prairie-Max won its first state tournament game with a 75-64 final over Shiloh Christian on Thursday in the Division A state quarterfinals.

The No. 5-seeded Royals will face No.1 Thompson in the second semifinal at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Minot State Dome.

South Prairie-Max played Thompson at the Minot Auditorium at the beginning of December. The Tommies won 55-31.

The Royals held the lead for over 28 minutes of game time. Skotti Beck led the team with 25 points and six rebounds. Rylee Routledge ended with 18 points and five rebounds, and Bre Rose added 13 points and six rebounds.

South Prairie-Max shot 53.1% from the floor in the win and connected on 8-for-20 three-pointers.

Emily Hammeren led the way for Shiloh Christian with 20 points and eight rebounds. Betsy Hadlestad had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Dedra Wood ended with 11 points.

The Skyhawks shot 40% from the floor and 37.5% from three.

Shiloh Christian will play Watford City in the second consolation semifinal Friday.
