South Caldwell falls to Alexander Central
Sep. 14—The South Caldwell girls' tennis team traveled to Taylorsville for a meet against Alexander Central.
Even though the Spartans lost 7-2, South Caldwell head coach Kevin McKercher applauded the Lady Spartans for their effort in each match.
"There were great battles at the top of the line-up," said McKercher.
Second-seeded Isabelle Richard established control early in her match, winning 6-3, 6-2.
"I was very proud of how Isabelle moved the ball around. She pushed her from side to side and played a few key attacks at the net for decisive points," said McKercher.
First-seeded Lila Acevedo took an early lead in her match against Alexander Central's Adi Eckard, but Eckard bounced back, taking the match 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles action, Acevedo and Richard teamed up to defeat Eckard and Alaina Peterson 8-4.
"Good chemistry, they trusted each other," said McKercher about Acevedo and Richard's play.
