Sources: Troy Williams, Pelicans agree on deal

Free agent forward Troy Williams has agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Williams will compete for a roster spot as a 6-foot-7 wing player able to provide scoring and depth. He split his time last season with the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. In 17 games for the Knicks, Williams averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 17.1 minutes.

After going undrafted out of Indiana in 2016, Williams signed with the Memphis Grizzlies, then joined the Rockets — where he mostly starred for their G League affiliate, Rio Grande Valley. He was released last February before signing two 10-day contracts and a two-year deal with the Knicks. New York released him this month.
