Restricted free agent Tony Snell has agreed in principle to a four-year, $46 million contract to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

The 25-year-old Snell – whom the team acquired from Chicago for Michael Carter-Williams last October – enjoyed a career year during his first season with the club.

As a prototypical three-and-D wing, he averaged 8.5 points and shot 40.6 percent from 3-point range, proving he could effectively space the floor as a kick-out weapon. Snell also connected on 45.7 percent of his three after Jan. 1.

At 6-foot-7, Snell’s rare defensive versatility – particularly in the absence of the injured Bucks Jabari Parker and Khris Middleton – proved to be a boon for coach Jason Kidd and his 42-win team. He started 80 regular-season games and six postseason games as the team fell to Toronto in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
