Shabazz Muhammad has agreed to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks once he clears waivers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Muhammad agreed to a contract buyout with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday and will be eligible for the playoffs. The Bucks have had interest in Muhammad for the past year and received his commitment Thursday night.

Milwaukee will release guard Sean Kilpatrick to create roster space to sign Muhammad, league sources said.

Muhammad has shown scoring prowess in his career, averaging 13.5, 10.5 and 9.9 points per game from 2014-2017. He signed a two-year contract to return to the Timberwolves in free agency, but had been out of coach Tom Thibodeau’s rotation this season. In 32 games for Minnesota this season, Muhammad averaged 3.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 9.4 minutes.

Muhammad, 25, has averaged nine points and 2.8 rebounds in five NBA seasons. He was the No. 14 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft.
