Sources: JaMychal Green signs two-year deal to return to Memphis
Restricted free agent JaMychal Green signed a two-year, $17 million-plus deal to return to the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told The Vertical.
Green came to terms on the fully guaranteed two-year deal Wednesday. With the agreement, Green and the Grizzlies will avoid an Oct. 1 deadline of the $2.8 million qualifying offer. Green also positioned himself to return to free agency in the summer of 2019, when the market is expected to be less treacherous than 2018.

Green, 27, was a priority for the Grizzlies, who offered him a new deal before July 1 and had minimal progress on a deal in the months since. Green went undrafted in 2012 and has gone from an $800-per-week contract in the NBA’s development League to a lucrative deal of more than $8 million per year.
For Memphis, reintegrating a core part of the team was critical after Green missed media day Monday and the start of training camp without a deal.
In his third NBA season in 2016-17, Green averaged 8.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 77 games and became the full-time starter alongside Grizzlies All-Star center Marc Gasol.
After leaving Alabama in 2012, Green played in France and the development League. He broke into the NBA on a 10-day contract with the San Antonio Spurs in 2015 before being waived to sign with the Grizzlies. He signed a three-year contract with the Grizzlies in March 2015.
