Sore ribs have Kevin Durant listed as questionable against Kings

The Golden State Warriors’ infirmary has been inundated this month and it may be checking in another high-profile patient. After being spotted with a patch on his ribs during practice Thursday, Golden State listed Durant as questionable for Friday night’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings.

If Durant doesn’t play, he would join Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green as the fourth Warriors All-Star to miss games this week due to varying degrees of injury.

Despite Durant’s status being up in the air for the first night of their upcoming back-to-back slate, his rib soreness may be the least concerning of the four.

Curry is expected to miss three more games as the Warriors are being cautious with his reoccurring right ankle sprain before thrusting him back into the lineup for the playoff push. Thompson will be re-evaluated on March 22 after fracturing his right thumb against Minnesota on Sunday.

Green has been pushing through a bothersome sore right shoulder for most of the season. Despite playing through what’s been described as a wear-and-tear injury all season, he sat out Wednesday’s game against the Lakers and is shooting 29 percent from behind the arc.

Nestled two games behind Houston in the race for the Western Conference’s No. 1 seed with 14 games left on the schedule, Golden State needs its big four back on the floor together as soon as possible. Fortunately, the Warriors’ next four games are against Sacramento, Phoenix, Atlanta and the floundering Spurs.
