Soon-to-be inducted Hall of Famer Paul Pierce is planning a podcast with Kevin Garnett

If idle hands are the devil’s playground, post-NBA retirement Paul Pierce is mounting quite the defense despite how a certain incident leading to his exit from ESPN might have you believe.

Unapologetic as ever about that and everything else he has been up to since leaving the sport where he spent 19 seasons playing in a recent, candid interview with Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, The Truth shed some light on yet another potential venture. And it isn’t like he’s been a recluse desperately in need of something to keep him busy either — even discounting homegrown broadcasts of exotic dancers, gambling, and sensimilla.

Speaking of the seedless, smokable pastime, Pierce has of course been keeping plenty busy with his new brand of cannabis products sporting the nickname bestowed on him by former teammate Shaquille O’Neal.

He's been getting into cryptocurrency exchange and is reportedly doing quite well in that regard. The Inglewood native has even been pushing a new social media platform he is a partner of to help celebrities further monetize their likeness. But fans of the 2008 title team that helped cement his Hall of Fame status for which he will be honored this weekend alongside fellow Celtics alumnus Bill Russell will be pleased to learn about another idea in the works for Pierce involving a teammate of some note from the Banner 17 squad. https://twitter.com/TheCelticsWire/status/1435241489764847616?s=20

Pierce is planning to launch a podcast with Kevin Garnett, and it will have little to do with their time together in Boston -- at least directly -- with the frame he is considering. "Pierce wants to do a show that follows the two of them traveling the world," writes Mannix. https://twitter.com/TheCelticsWire/status/1435196392608313348?s=20

Count us in, but what else might be involved other than exotic backdrops for two of the most beloved Celtics in recent history?

"Just doing all the [expletive] we couldn’t do when we played," related Pierce to Mannix. "Skydiving ... "Maybe a bull run in Spain. Get motorcycles and travel around. Experience different cultures, different foods."

"That would be so much fun," he added. https://twitter.com/TheCelticsWire/status/1435181295886348289?s=20

The concept sounds engaging, and we earnestly hope it makes it onto the information superhighway in the near future. The unfiltered Truth has always been better than the buttoned-up, Grandpa Paul version we were spoonfed throughout his incarnation as a broadcaster. And on the open road with KG, both very far out of their comfort zones? We're not calling backboard, we're calling game. This post originally appeared on Celtics Wire. Follow us on Facebook!
