Sonya Curry nails underhanded half-court shot at All-Star Weekend (video)
Stephen Curry is not the only member of his family capable of highlight-reel worthy plays. His brother, Seth, is also in the NBA. His father, Dell, was an NBA sharpshooter. His sister, Sydel, played collegiate Division I volleyball. But let’s not leave out his mother, Sonya, who showed on Friday why she was a three-sport athlete in high school and also a Division I volleyball player:
We know exactly who Steph got his jumper from. His mom.
Sorry, Dell 🤣

In a shooting contest during a Curry Family Foundation event in Charlotte ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend, Sonya stepped up and nailed an underhanded half-court shot, sending the entire family into a frenzy. The shot helped win the competition between the family members — Sonya teamed up with Dell against a contingency of the younger Curry athletes, and won bragging rights.

“I was trash talking with the kids. I said, “Me and your pops, we’re going to take this thing from y’all,’ ” Sonya told Steve Reed of The Associated Press. “And they were like, ‘Whatever, whatever.'”
It will be a busy weekend for the Curry family, which hails from Charlotte. Stephen and Seth will compete in the 3-point shootout, and Dell — who played for the Charlotte Hornets and works as a color commentator for the team — is expected to make a cameo during Saturday’s festivities. And Stephen will take center stage at the All-Star Game in his hometown on Sunday.
But as we watch the Currys rain 3s the entire weekend, Sonya reminded her kids on Friday where their genes came from.
