Somerset's offense stays hot in win over Danville

Mar. 26—Fresh off two wins on Saturday, Somerset was back at home on Monday to host the Danville Lady Admirals in the first round of the 12th Region All "A" Classic. The Jumpers were hoping to stay hot on the offensive side of the plate after outscoring their two opponents over the weekend 25-9.

It didn't take long for this game to go final on a windy day either, as Somerset batted around the order in the bottom of the first to the tune of five runs. They went on to score six runs in the second and four runs in the third to seal the deal as they advanced on to the All "A" regional title game courtesy of a 15-0 victory over Danville in just three innings.

Makenna Baker led the wya for the Jumpers with four RBI's on two hits, including a single to score the final three runs of the ball game. Emme Goforth, Addy White, Grace Prichard and Mollie Lucas all batted in two RBI's apiece, while Jazlynn Shadoan and Emry Pyles each had a single RBI. Addy White, Prichard, Shadoan and Lucas each had two doubles in the win. Sarah White also recorded a hit. Goforth and Jami Rogers each had a stolen base during the contest. Addy White earned the win on the mound, pitching two innings while allowing no runs on just two hits with four strikeouts, while Madisyn Robertson pitched the final inning and allowed no hits. Danville's sole two hits were earned by junior Jazelynn Doneghy and seventh grader Riley Foster.

Somerset improves to 4-4 and will be back in action on Thursday as they travel across town to take on the Southwestern Warriors at 6 p.m. They will play Danville Christian in the 12th Region All "A" Classic championship game on April 11.
