Somerset bounces back with rout of Wayne County

Apr. 1—After falling in an offensive slugfest against Southwestern on Thursday and then a shellacking at the hands of Madison Southern on Friday, the Somerset Lady Jumpers had a trip to Wayne County on Saturday to attempt to quell their losing spell. Both offenses struggled throughout most of the game, until a six-run seventh inning gave Somerset the space they needed to stop their two-game skid as they defeated the Lady Cards 8-1.

The Jumpers were led by Addy White and Emme Goforth with two RBI's apiece, while Sarah White, Jazlynn Shadoan and Emry Pyles each had one RBI. Grace Prichard and Aleah Wesley each had a hit in the win. Addy White, Goforth, Pyles and Shadoan each had a double. Mollie Lucas had two stolen bases during the contest, with Pyles and Prichard each adding one. Addy White also earned the win on the mound, going the full seven innings and allowing just one run on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts. The sole RBI for Wayne County was batted in by junior Breanna Burnette.

Somerset improves to 5-6 and will next host LaRue County and Tates Creek on Saturday.
