Somerset battles past Danville to reach All "A" Finals

Jan. 12—Somerset matched up against the Danville Admirals in the 12th Region All "A" Classic at Burgin on Thursday evening, looking to beat the Admirals for a second time this season after defeating them 63-46 on Dec. 9. The run to the championship game continued for the Jumpers with a 63-36 victory over their opponents, securing themselves a spot in Friday's title game. Head coach Ryan Young credited the Admirals for a strong effort in the first half and his assistant coaches for their coaching in the second half.

"Credit to Danville for playing really hard and aggressive in the first half. We regrouped at half and switched our defense, which is a credit to my assistant who has done a great job implementing our zone to switch the tempo of the game. Our kids settled in offensively and were efficient," he explained.

The Jumpers were led by Ben Godby with 25 points, with Indred Whitaker joining him in double figures with 15. Other scorers included Aedyn Absher and Josh Lewis with seven apiece, Josh Bruner with six, Colyer White with two and Jakob Bartley with one. Danville was led by junior Trevarion Paige with 15 points.

Somerset improves to 13-3 and will face off against Danville Christian in the championship game of the All "A" tournament on Friday.
