Art of a new character for Blizzard’s online shooter Overwatch has leaked online, just days away from the start of BlizzCon. The character named Sombra had been heavily speculated as a new addition to the playable Overwatch cast, but Blizzard has reportedly leaked Sombra’s art earlier than intended by accident.
According to a post on Mashable, the image was found in a Blizzard store listing with the word “sombrafineart” in the URL. The image has since then been removed by Blizzard, but as with anything on the Internet, savvy users have saved it and shared it online.
The artwork features a female character clad in an outfit with cyberpunk aesthetics (think metallic lining, bright laser-like beams, and a shaved hairdo). This would align with previous speculations that Sombra is the subject of an alternate reality game Blizzard is currently running that centers around the movements of a hacker. Earlier today the company’s Twitter account posted about a security breach at LumeriCo, a fictional energy company from Overwatch’s universe that is located in Mexico.
