Soldier returns from Afghanistan to surprise his kids at Kings game
Two young Sacramento Kings fans got the surprise of their lives during Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns. They thought they were being picked as part of one of the team’s promotions. Instead, they were surprised by their dad, a veteran who returned home from Afghanistan.
The promotion called for the kids to find the Kings mascot on the court while wearing blindfolds. That’s when their dad, Sergeant First Class Shawn Sullivan, came out and surprised them.
The result was exactly what you would expect. The kids embraced their dad as the sound system played “Coming Home.”
We’ve seen these types of promotions before. It’s not the first time a team has surprised family members with a veteran returning from overseas. Even though we know what’s coming, it’s tough not to be impacted by the emotion displayed in these videos.
The good vibes would continue for Sullivan and his family. The Kings went on to defeat the Suns 99-92.
It was an all-around great game for Sullivan’s kids, but we don’t blame them if the first quarter was better than the end of the fourth.
