Softball: JHS pitchers rule the day; Maidens thump Lindale, Leonard

Feb. 25—LINDALE — Jacksonville received two strong outings in the circle Saturday in recording a 4-1 win over Lindale and an 11-1 trouncing of Leonard. The games came on the final day of the Texas Association of Sports Officials Tournament at Lindale High School.

Jasmine Gallegos hurled 4.1 innings and didn't give up an earned run in the victory over Lindale. The senior struck out one and didn't walk a batter.

Chesni Speaker, also a senior, went 2-3 at the plate, which included a run-scoring double.

Ana Miles smacked a double while Hanna Gonzales and Gallegos each had a base hit.

The game was tied, 1-1 when the Maidens scored three runs in the top of the fifth and final frame.

Gonzales dominated in the circle for Jacksonville in the game versus Leonard. She didn't allow an earned run and gave up just two hits in five innings of work.

Gonzalez recorded 10 strike outs and didn't walk a batter.

Gallegos blasted a three-run home run and punched out a double later in the day to lead Jacksonville at the plate.

Other offensive leaders for the Maidens were Gonzales (single, 2 RBI), Anajah White (double, RBI), Caitlyn Whetsell (double, RBI), Ana Miles (single, RBI) and Ryan Ramirez (double).

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday the Maidens will entertain Malakoff (5-5).
