It was another frustrating day at the office for the Oklahoma Sooners. In a game they had opportunities to take control of, the Sooners made mistakes that kept them from gaining any momentum.
Even as the offense put up 499 yards of total offense, it was a herky-jerky performance. Very little sustained momentum because of penalties and turnovers, and the Sooners lost 38-35 to Baylor to fall to 5-4 on the season nd 2-4 in Big 12 play.
Eric Gray had another solid outing for the Sooners and Marvin Mims and Dillon Gabriel connected for a 63-yard touchdown that was the longest play of the day.
Oklahoma Softball received their championship rings from their 2022 Women’s College World Series title run, and Roy Williams was honored between the first and second quarter ahead of his 2022 College Football Hall of Fame induction.
Here are some of the best social media reactions to the Oklahoma Sooners loss to Baylor on Saturday.
Or an average team
Hard to beat a good football team when you turn the ball over 4 times.

Nothing Good, Mark
So what does it mean that Baylor is running the ball down our throat.

Shot themselves in the foot
Brent Venables: “We’ve been talking about discipline for 11 months … we’ve got to be more disciplined”
— Eddie Radosevich (@Eddie_Rado) November 5, 2022
He's got a point
I don't think this is as much about discipline. I continue to see a defense that hasn't learned how to react to adversity. I see an offense that is good, but not great. Venables' job seems to be turning around the mentality of this team more than the talent level.

Here’s what it comes down to. Winners win and losers lose. Period. This team isn’t built for winning.

A long way to go
Getting absolutely manhandled on defense was supposed to be over.
This is just unacceptable.

At least the Softball team had a good day
— Boomer Bixby Babe (@MaceyTurley) November 5, 2022
Congrats to Superman
Special day for sure! We didn’t win but I’m encouraged we are improving and things will change in our favor. Trust the process it will get better. Thank you Sooner Nation for the love today. Truly blessed. #Boomer

Can he play 100% of the snaps? Asking for a friend
Oklahoma’s offense is simply better with Eric Gray in the game.
— Ruf / Writers – Stephen A (@OUupdatedSB) November 5, 2022
Offense wasn't entirely the problem
The offense had 499 total yards. Two of the three turnovers were hard-luck pinball picks. The defense couldn’t get off the field on third down, much less stop the run in general.
But we’re about to spend another 48 hours watching OU fans blame Jeff Lebby and Dillon Gabriel https://t.co/KleZckqwi5

Here's to Roy Williams!

The Broadcast was not great
What is with this broadcast crew? Put me in the booth
— Dimitri Flowers (@treeflowers36) November 5, 2022
It's a mystery
Rewatching the game.
OU getting stopped on the 4th and 1 was a big play in the game.
There was a BIG hole off a nice trey block by 64 & 22. Borderline unbelievable that they didn’t get a yard.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State not having a good time

Jaren Kanak did some good things
Kanak goes in. Kanak makes a play. Doesn’t feel like rocket science

That's just funny
The Playoff Committee is reportedly considering canceling the CFP and simply giving the natty to Georgia, citing growing concerns that they might have to put TCU in.

Solid performance from the Offense
This loss is not on Lebby. Play calling was very well. We had 3 INT, put them on their own 30 2 times. Should’ve went for it instead of punting the ball. Andrew Raym cost us with this hands to the face/holding before the half. Shot ourselves in the foot the entire game. Boomer.

Gabriel's second interception that shouldn't have been one
That's 100% pass interference.
Defender has a hold on the receiver 100%.
Terrible no-call by this officiating crew.
— Sooners Wire (@SoonersWire) November 5, 2022
At least we're not the only ones down bad
Remember when we thought we had a chance at the playoff?
Lmao, what a time
— Barstool Pokes (@BarstoolOKST) November 5, 2022
I guess this defense will get better with his guys?
— Barstool Sooners (@OUBarstool) November 5, 2022
Brent Venables on Eric Gray: Eric did today what he's done all year. Whatever we've asked him to do … he's as consistent a player as we've had … he ran w/toughness and he's always straining … it means a lot to him & he makes those plays when he gets an opportunity. #Sooners

Not entirely on Dillon Gabriel either
It's like these people didn't watch what happened when Dillon Gabriel wasn't playing quarterback. https://t.co/tud9FV7nfL
