Bayern Munich's path to a ninth-straight domestic title begins at home to Schalke, as the Bundesliga schedule is out for the 2020-21 season.
A Schalke player and backroom staff member tested positive for the coronavirus less than a week after the team was attacked by its own fans following relegation from the Bundesliga, the club said Tuesday. Schalke said a first round of PCR tests on Monday returned the two positive results for COVID-19. Both individuals are in quarantine and neither is showing any symptoms.
Schalke 04 said Friday they have asked for police protection at training next week after angry fans attacked the team bus following the club’s relegation from the Bundesliga. A large group of furious supporters pelted the team bus with eggs and confronted players on their return to Gelsenkirchen Wednesday after defeat at Bielefeld saw Schalke relegated after 30 years in Germany’s top flight. The team has won just two of their 30 games this season.
