KAZAN, Russia (AP) Mexico star Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez trained separately from his teammates on Monday because of muscle fatigue, the latest concern for a Mexican team that has been struck by injuries at the Confederations Cup. Mexico had already lost defender Carlos Salcedo because of a shoulder injury, while defender Hector Moreno has been a concern with a muscle ailment.
Hakan Calhanoglu will move to AC Milan once the Italian giants reach an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen, according to the midfielder's agent. Turkey international Calhanoglu has not played since January due to a FIFA ban relating to contract dispute with Trabzonspor, whom he is said to have agreed to join before pulling out in 2011, being upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. It appears that Milan could well offer him that move, with Calhanoglu's representative Bektas Demirtas suggesting the player has agreed personal terms with the Serie A club.
Julian Brandt has ruled out a transfer to Bayern Munich, insisting he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen to help the club recover from a disappointing season. The winger's father and agent had to deny reports a move to join Bayern had been agreed in April and now the 21-year-old himself has revealed he will be staying put. Brandt, who is with Germany at the Confederations Cup, feels partially responsible for Leverkusen's poor 2016-17, the club slumping to a 12th-place finish and head coach Roger Schmidt being sacked in March.
