Bayern Munich became the first team to reach the Champions League by finishing off Lyon on Tuesday and during the match, manager Louis van Gaal gave television cameras a glimpse of how he's been able to propel his team to such great heights.
Already up 1-0 (2-0 on aggregate) after the first 45 minutes, Bayern defender Martin Demichelis chatted with van Gaal as he prepared to enter the match as a halftime substitute when -- boom -- he got a surprise kiss on the cheek from his notoriously hot-tempered manager. Just like that. Demichelis laughed it off and van Gaal went on his way.
Following the sneaky public display of affection, Lyon got a man sent off and Ivica Olic scored two more goals to seal Bayern's trip to Madrid. Clearly, van Gaal's surprise kissing technique is the reason for this, as well as Bayern's positions atop the Bundesliga. Or it's a sign that Louis van Gaal has completely lost his mind. Maybe both.
