With snow and icy weather in the forecast for Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, the Eastern Shore will be having closings and delays.

Monday, schools were to return from the winter break, but weather could throw a wrench into that. Stay up with the latest closings and delays here.

As of late Sunday, the National Weather Service was calling for snow to begin around daybreak Monday and last into the midday or afternoon hours. Black ice is likely Monday night.

Schools

  • Wicomico County Public Schools and its Central Office will be closed Monday, the school system said Monday morning. It has initially announced a 90-minute delay.

  • Worcester County Public Schools will be closed Monday. All after school, evening and Adult Education classes are also canceled.

  • Somerset County Public Schools will be closed Monday. Essential and 12-month employees should report on time.

  • Due to impending inclement weather from the advancing winter storm, Accomack County Public Schools will be closed for all student and staff. Twelve-month employees should work from home as all ACPS.

  • Due to the impending snowstorm Monday, Jan. 3, the Cape Henlopen School District will be closed and there will be no instruction.

  • Sussex County Vocational Technical School District will be closed Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, due to an anticipated snow event.

  • Due to the possibility of inclement weather, all Indian River School District schools will be closed on Monday, January 3. School and district offices will also be closed and 12-month employees should not report to work.

  • Delmar School District will be closed Monday

  • Woodbridge School District will be closed Monday.

  • Seaford School District schools will be closed Monday. All staff will work remotely.

  • Laurel School District will be closed Monday

  • Due to the forecast of adverse weather conditions beginning in the early morning hours, Dorchester County Public Schools will be running on a two-hour delay Monday, January 3, 2022. The situation will be reevaluated in the morning with a decision regarding closure being announced no later than 8 a.m.

  • Salisbury University is closed, though winter term lasses scheduled to meet remotely will still do so. Students enrolled in face-to-face or hybrid courses should monitor their email for information from instructors on course activities for the day. All Monday appointments at the campus COVID-19 Testing Center will be rescheduled.

  • The University of Maryland Eastern Shore will close Monday, Jan. 3, at noon for all but essential employees.

Government

  • Due to deteriorating conditions, Acting County Executive Psota has determined that Wicomico County Offices will close at 11 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2022. Essential personnel must remain at work and/or report as scheduled.

  • Worcester County Government’s Liberal Leave Policy is in effect for all non-essential Worcester County employees on Monday, January 3, 2022, due to inclement weather. Worcester County Government offices will be open during standard operating hours.

  • All Worcester County Health Department offices will be closed on Monday.

  • All Sussex County offices are closed as of 9:30 a.m.

  • Somerset County Health Department will be closed Monday.

  • All Wicomico County Health Department offices will be closed on Monday

  • State of Delaware offices are closed on Monday, January 3, 2022 during regular business hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Non-essential employees are not to report to work for this period. Essential employees designated for severe weather are to report as scheduled.

  • The Wicomico County circuit and district courts are closed. The Somerset County Circuit Court and clerk's office are closed. The Worcester County Circuit Court closes at 11:30 a.m., while the Worcester County district courts in Ocean City and Snow Hill are already closed.

  • City of Salisbury offices close at noon, and Monday's City Council work session at 4:30 p.m. will be held via Zoom.

  • City of Rehoboth Beach offices are closing at noon.

  • Due to inclement weather, Worcester County Government Offices closed January 3, 2022, at 1:30 p.m.

  • Due to inclement weather conditions, the Worcester County Commissioners’ meeting previously scheduled for Jan. 4, 2022, has been rescheduled to Jan. 11.

Health

  • Somerset County Health Department COVID-19 testing: The January 3 COVID-19 testing clinic originally set for 1:30-3:30 p.m. has been canceled. The department will still holding a COVID-19 testing clinic on Tuesday, Jan. 4, from 9:30-11:30 a. m. No appointment necessary. Open to all ages. Call 443-523-1920.

  • All TidalHealth Primary Care and Specialty Care physician offices are closed on Jan. 3. Patients with appointments will be called to reschedule. All TidalHealth Immediate Care Centers are also closed. TidalHealth Wound and Hyperbaric is closed in both Salisbury and Seaford. All Outpatient Services at the TidalHealth Mears Campus in Seaford are closed. TidalHealth Adult Fitness and Cardiac Rehab in Salisbury and Ocean Pines will close at 11 a.m. All TidalHealth Outpatient Physical Medicine (PT, OT and Speech) Clinics are closed. Patients are being called to reschedule. The TidalHealth Lymphedema Clinic. Patients are being called to reschedule.

  • Due to current weather conditions, Beebe Healthcare is closing its Georgetown Walk-In Care Center at noon today; Millville and Millsboro Walk-In Care Centers will be closing at 1 p.m. All outpatient lab services, imaging and physical rehabilitation will be closed Monday as well. Scheduled patients will be contacted to reschedule their appointments. All Beebe Healthcare Primary Care and Specialty Care offices appointments will be converted to telemedicine instead of in-person. All scheduled patients have been contacted. Both of Beebe's Emergency Departments remain open for emergencies. If you need emergency care always call 911 first. The South Coastal Emergency Department near Millville is open to care for patients in that area. Beebe Healthcare’s two cancer centers will also be closing at 3 p.m., which includes van transportation. The cancer centers are located in Rehoboth (Tunnell Cancer Center) and near Millville (South Coastal Cancer Center). Due to a loss of power in an outpatient building, the diagnostic testing scheduling phone line (302-645-3278) is offline. Patients will not be able to schedule a diagnostic test (such as lab, imaging, etc.) during this time. Once power is restored, scheduled patients will be contacted to be rescheduled. All Outpatient Lab services, Imaging, and Physical Rehabilitation are now closed today.

Other

  • The Salisbury Zoological Park has closed due to ice on the paths.

  • The Wicomico Youth & Civic Center box office will be closed on Monday, Jan. 3 due to inclement weather. Online purchases can be made through www.WicomicoCivicCenter.org. Recreation program registration is available through www.WicomicoRecandParks.org.

  • All branches of the Somerset County Library will be closed Monday, January 3, due to snow.

  • Due to severe weather conditions, Judicial Branch offices will be closed in all three Delaware counties Monday January 3, 2022. Justice of the Peace Courts 11 (New Castle County), 7 (Kent County), and 3 (Sussex County) will remain open.

  • The Wicomico County landfill, convenience centers, brush pile and ferries will be closing at noon Monday.

  • DART Bus services in Sussex County will be suspended as follows: Route 201: last roundtrip departs Lewes Transit Center (LTC) at 4:30 p.m.; Route 204: last roundtrip departs LTC at 4:35 p.m.; Route 206: last roundtrip departs Georgetown Transit Hub at 4:15 p.m.; Route 210: last roundtrip departs Milford Super Walmart 2:45 p.m.; Route 212: last roundtrip departs Georgetown Transit Hub at 1:33 p.m.; Route 215: last roundtrip departs Rehoboth at 3:19 p.m.; Route 307: last trip departs Lewes at 1:09 p.m. Riders can call 1-800-652-3278 for further details or download the free DART Transit app for real-time bus information.
