Skydiver gets stuck in fence in pre-race routine at NASCAR championship

Sunday’s championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway came with the usual pomp and circumstance that precedes a NASCAR event.

A stirring Air Force-led rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. A flyover from military jets. Fireworks. A skydiver.

Well, that last part wasn’t so normal.

Skydiver on the fence

The skydiver wasn’t out of the ordinary, but his fate on windy day in South Florida certainly was.

He missed his mark and ended up tangled up in the fence that surrounds the 1.5-mile oval.

A crew was able to untangle the skydiver and get the race proceedings moving in short order. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse.

Landing on that fence or in the crowd would not have been good for anyone involved.
