Sixers to be without Joel Embiid, Robert Covington in matchup vs. Hawks

The Philadelphia 76ers will be undermanned once again when they take on the Atlanta Hawks on the road on Wednesday. After two tough losses to the New York Knicks and the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia will be short-handed in its visit to Atlanta.

While Tobias Harris, De’Anthony Melton, and Furkan Korkmaz are set to return, the Sixers will be without Joel Embiid and Robert Covington. Embiid will miss his second consecutive game with a left knee issue and will miss his sixth in the past eight games overall due to the knee and, previously, a sprained right ankle.

Covington will miss his fourth consecutive game with a left knee issue as well.

Without Embiid, the Sixers will have to be better in terms of protecting the paint. They struggled mightily in the loss to the Jazz as they let Utah score 72 points in the paint without Embiid back there protecting the rim.

Tip off between the Sixers and the Hawks is set for 7:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday.
