Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey puts up shots after shootaround, remains out

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers will be a bit short-handed on Friday when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans. Joel Embiid, De’Anthony Melton, and Robert Covington all remain out and will be joined on the sideline by Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey has been ruled out for Friday’s matchup with the Pelicans. It will be the third consecutive game he has missed due to a concussion he suffered in a March 3 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Coach Nick Nurse stated that Maxey will have to pass the concussion protocol test before he can return to the floor.

After shootaround on Friday morning, Maxey was able to put up some shots. He remains out against the Pelicans on Friday, but this appears to be a good sign of his recovery.

It will be a tough battle against the Pelicans without Maxey. New Orleans has a lot of players who can put the ball in the basket and Philadelphia will have to find a way to keep up without him.

Tip off from the Wells Fargo Center is set for 7 p.m. EST.
