Sixers star Joel Embiid reminds Hall of Famer Chris Webber of himself
Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid is one of the top players in the league regardless of position because he can dominate a game in multiple facets on offense and defense.
On offense, he can take a guy off the dribble, he can knock down a mid-range jumper as well as the occasional 3-pointer, and he is the most dominant low post player in the game. He is either getting fouled or he is getting a bucket, so it leaves defenses helpless.
Hall of Fame big man Chris Webber, who also spent some time with the Sixers in the 2000s, sat down with The Athletic and The Stadium’s Shams Charania and he said Embiid reminds him of himself:
Maybe Joel Embiid because he’s one of the few that can post up, take you off the dribble and shoot the 3. So his game. But besides that, it’s really hard to find someone that really dominates in the midrange as a big fella. It’s a little tough to see at times, but maybe Embiid is the closest.
Webber could get a bucket in any which way during his heyday with the Sacramento Kings so clearly, there are some comparisons to Embiid there. On the flip side, Embiid is a much better defensive player and he is probably a more complete all-around player than Webber was.
