Sixers star Joel Embiid named 2023 MVP winner after stellar season

After finishing as the runner-up in the MVP race to Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic in each of the previous two seasons, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid finally has his moment.

The NBA announced Embiid as the 2023 MVP winner after a stellar season in which he led the league in scoring at 33.1 points per game on a ridiculous 54.8% shooting, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. The impact he makes for the Sixers on both ends of the floor is unmatched and he now finally has his award.

The Sixers would not be title contenders if it weren’t for Embiid and what he brings to the floor. He has been playing at an MVP-type level all season and is most deserving of the award.

At this point in time, Embiid is currently dealing with an LCL sprain in his right knee and the Sixers are coming off an impressive Game 1 win over the Boston Celtics without him. Philadelphia hopes to have the big fella back for Game 2 on Wednesday.
