Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is dealing with left knee soreness and will miss at least a week, the team announced Wednesday.

Embiid, who played in his second NBA All-Star Game earlier this week, had an MRI on the knee and “no structural damage” was found. The next steps for his return to the court are “treatment involving physical therapy and load management,” the team said. Embiid will be re-evaluated in “approximately one week.”

The 7-foot-2 center is averaging 27.3 points and 13.5 rebounds per game for the Sixers, who are currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference coming out of the All-Star break.

When meeting with reporters Wednesday, Sixers head coach Brett Brown described the injury as “tendinitis.” Brown said Embiid had the MRI on Tuesday and the time off is geared toward ensuring Embiid is ready “when it matters most at the end of the year.” Embiid has been listed on the team’s injury report numerous times throughout the season, both with knee soreness and back tightness.

Philly also announced Wednesday that forward Furkan Korkmaz suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee in the team’s loss to the Boston Celtics on Feb. 12. Korkmaz is averaging 5.8 points in 14.2 minutes per game. The team said the injury could require surgery.

The Sixers (37-21) return to action Thursday night at home against the Miami Heat.
