The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to figure out what to do next when it comes to the Ben Simmons situation. The team still has hope that he will show up at some point, but after missing all of training camp and now one preseason game, that seems unlikely.

The Sixers have begun punishing Simmons a bit as they withheld the $8.25 million owed to him on Friday. The embattled star did not blink as he still has not reported to the team as they prepare for the 2021-22 season. Now, at this point, the Sixers might have to just settle for anything in order to get a deal done and move on with what they want to do.

The Indiana Pacers have been mentioned in the past as a team that could be in the mix to acquire Simmons and it appears that the two teams did have some talks about a potential Simmons deal.

Per Ian Begley of SNY, the Sixers and the Pacers have discussed a Simmons deal centered on young guard Caris LeVert, but it is unclear if any of those talks have led to anything serious.

Begley reports:

League sources confirm that the Pacers are among the teams who have talked to the Philadelphia 76ers about a potential Simmons trade. Caris LeVert was among the players brought up in those communications, per SNY sources.

It is unknown if talks between Philadelphia and Indiana have progressed beyond run-of-the-mill contact.

It has been known for a while now that the Sixers want a haul for Simmons. He is one of the game’s bright stars at just 25-years old, but at the end of the day, he has a ton of offensive limitations and he needs to work on those. When combined with the issues off the floor right now, his trade value is at its lowest and Philadelphia might just have to accept that at the moment.
